Site of both a gorgeous mountain and a bloody Civil War battle, Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park offers a destination for both outdoor adventurers and military enthusiasts. Visit Cheatham Hill on the southern side of the park where the heart of the battle occurred and over 5,300 soldiers died. Hike through some of the 18 miles of trails that wind through the park, or take a scenic drive over the Old Mountain Road if it's a weekday. The visitor center is a good starting point for any exploration of the park, with maps and abundant historical information to help visitors understand the importance of this site. The park sits just northwest of Marietta, close to the town of Kennesaw, making it a great choice for a day trip.

Free entry. During weekends & holidays road is closed, shuttle fee: Adults $2; Children (6-11) $1; Children 5 and under are free.
